Last night I watched a very good show aired on Al-Hijrah TV. This kind of reality TV is much better compared to those shown on E! channel. I happened to turn on to Al-Hijrah TV last week and the show caught my attention. They set up a CCTV to monitor the "victims" act to the pre-set situations. The show is about ethics, comparing what we do every single day to what would Rasulullah s.a.w do in the same situation. And of course there are lesson learn from each situation. The host will ask "If Rasulullah s.a.w is still here with us, what will he do?"
Lesson 1 : Thank you & appreciating those who did something for you.
Customers ordering coffee at drive-thru kiosk. Firstly, does the customer greet the waiter? Upon served, do the customers say Thank You. Quite a number of customers fail the challenge. Some even just place their order, take it and drive off.
E.g : Assalamualaikum. How are you today? [proceed to order]. Thank you very much. Have a nice day.
Lesson 2 : Salam (Assalamualaikum)
A CCTV was set up in a taxi. A very simple test to see whether customers give Salam to the driver or not? The test shows only 2 out of 5 customers bother to say Assalamualaikum to the driver upon entering the cab.
Lesson 3 : Time management, punctuality
The situation was set up at the local university. Late comers were not allowed to enter the class. Instead, their photo was taken and they were forced to sign the "Surat Pengakuan" and paying for a penalty of 5 Riyal. The class start at 9.00a.m but some students turn up at 9.45a.m! Gross!
Lesson 4 : Be nice to your subordinate
Holding high post in an organization doesn't limit you to mingle around and to be nice to your subordinate. Rasulullah s.a.w himself at his position as a prophet, as a minister, as an army leader, a very well respected person still took his time to joke around and being close to the people around him putting, aside his status. It didn't tarnish or lower down his status instead people respected him more.
Renung renungkan dan selamat beramal...
